Mavuso Simelane is a South African actor best known for his breakout role as Samuel Zwane in the critically acclaimed M-Net drama series Reyka — a UK–South Africa co-production that premiered in 2021. In Reyka, Mavuso brought depth and conviction to the role of a proud, ambitious junior detective determined to serve with integrity — a performance that cemented his place as one of South Africa’s rising talents. Born and raised in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, Mavuso graduated from the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance (AFDA) in 2012 Honours level in 2013 and shortly after a 1year Documentary Film making . His career began shortly after with a guest appearance as Sbu in the SABC1 docu-drama Ngempela, followed by notable roles in Traffic!, Forced Love, and Isikizi. Mavuso’s growing versatility has seen him appear in a range of local and international productions, including the History Channel’s Roots, the Amazon Prime Original The Widow alongside Kate Beckinsale, the German miniseries Jana und der Buschpilot and Deutschland 86, as well as the UK’s CBeebies series Jamillah and Aladdin and other roles also include Catch Me a Killer , Soon Comes Night amongs others .
