Sandile Kamle

Sandile Kamle was born in Gugulethu, Cape Town in 1975.
He was appointed as one of the the first members of Cape Town Opera (CTO) Choral Training Programme in 1994 and his solo debut followed just two years later at the State Theatre in Pretoria.
He later joined the CTO Vocal Ensemble and enrolled to study Opera at SA College of Music (UCT), after which he was promoted to CTO Studio Member..
His roles include Gherardo (Gianni Schichi), Monostatos (Magic Flute), Heinrich der (Schreiber Tannhäuser) and Sportin Life (Porgy and Bess).
From 2000-2006 Sandile toured extensively with Dimpo di Kopane, performing Don Jose (uCarmen eKhayelitsha), Lottery Agent (Der Sibersee), Peachum and Lockit (Three Penny Opera) and in London, Other highlights of his career included performing Monostasos in William Kentridge’s Magic Flute (2007) and MacDuff in Brett Bailey’s adaptation of Verdi’s Macbeth which toured UK, USA, Argentina, Chille, Germany, France, Australia & China from 2013-2016.
In addition to a wonderful career as a soloist, Sandile has also directed for film, opera and a stage production Sandile was appointed as a Vocal Advisor for The Melting Pot Choral Eisteddfod in 2017 and he is currently the Music Director for the newly formed Township Opera Company, and an he is also an Adjudicator / Quality Assurer for South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod, as well as the Western Cape Choral Music Association.
